Jake Ohlemiller -- Pastor
Jake grew up in St. Louis as the oldest son of Indiana-born parents. Although he was a “spiritual seeker” throughout his teenage years, Jake first came to know Christ and received his call to ministry while studying Agricultural Engineering at Purdue University. After finishing his Bachelor of Science in 2011, Jake spent a year serving as an intern at both the Purdue Wesley Foundation and West Lafayette First UMC. In 2012 Jake began his ministerial education at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. His field education experience includes Bethany Retirement Community, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Broadway UMC (all in the Chicago area.) He finished school in May of 2015 and was commissioned by Bishop Coyner as a provisional elder at the 2015 Indiana UMC Annual Conference. When he can find a little free time, Jake loves to read books (real, paper ones!), work on the house, keep up with world events, meet the people of God, and talk for hours with his wife and life-partner, Janelle.
Janelle Ohlemiller LCSW -- Minister of Community Engagement
Janelle grew up in Lafayette, Indiana. She knew at a young age that she wanted a career in service to others. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University, Janelle studied social work at the University of Chicago. It was during this time that Janelle came to know God and to focus her life on following Jesus Christ. She completed her Master’s degree in 2013, and later earned her clinical license while working for North Shore Senior Center in Evanston, Illinois. Janelle answered the call to ministry in 2015, and she is now a Certified Candidate for Ordination as a Deacon in the Indiana Conference. She began her theological education at Methodist Theological School in Ohio in January of 2017. Janelle also works as a part-time hospice social worker, a very fulfilling ministry she was blessed to join in 2015. Outside of work, Janelle enjoys reading, exercising, singing in choirs, watching Purdue basketball, and spending time with Jake.
Tricia Williams -- Administrative Assistant
Tricia has been the administrative assistant at Albany UMC since February 2018. She comes to us with over 10 years of office administration experience. Tricia and her son Mason live in Daleville. She is a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and is currently a Certified Candidate for Local License Pastor in the Indiana Conference. Tricia serves as Senior Pastor at Rehboth UMC in Parker City, and is active in jail & prison ministry around the state.
Dennis & Cheryl Wasson -- Musical Directors
Dennis: Church organist, choir accompanist, and member of the handchime choir. He is a graduate of Muncie Central High School and Ball State University (BS in Music Education, MA in Music). Dennis was a bassoonist & saxophonist with the 5th Army Band based in Chicago. He was a public school music teacher for 30 years - teaching all grade levels choral and instrumental. Dennis has also served in various music postions in several churches beginning in high school.
Cheryl: Church pianist & Choir Director, as well as Co-Chairman of the church's annual bazaar. She is a graduate of Royerton High School and Ball State University (BS in Music Education, MA in Music) Cheryl was a public school music teacher for 30 years teaching all grade levels choral and instrumental, as continues as private instructor for piano and voice. She has served in various music positions in several church beginning in junior high school as a Junior Church pianist.
Both have done composing and arranging, as well as judging at Indiana State Music Association solo, ensemble and organization contests.
Dennis and Cheryl have one son, Eric (wife Kathy) and one granddaughter, Rochelle. They are parents to 3 Shih-tzus furbabies.
Nikki Adams -- Preschool Teacher
Nikki Adams has been the Preschool teacher at AUMC for 22 years. She was born and raised right outside of Albany, and she knew from a young child that when she had a family of her own that she wanted to raise them in the same small community. She has been married to her husband for 12 years, and has 3 children and 2 step children all of which are boys. Nikki loves spending time with her family, being outside and watching the boys play sports over the years.
Melissa Glidden -- Preschool Teacher
Jack & Linda Janney -- Church Custodians
Jack retired from Wes-Del schools as a bus driver, and the Town on Gaston maintenance department. He enjoys playing gold 3-4 times a week.
Linda retired from Townsend where she worked at the corprate office in the accounts payable department. She is currently a member of the Albany Lions Club.
Together, they take tickets at Delta football and basketball games. They enjoy gardening and mowing the yard.
They have a blended family which includes 6 children (1 deceased), 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
